Honestly, this was the most excruciating read I ever had. With all due respect, it was boring and didn’t even scare me at all. I have two words for this book, and those words are messed up. I mean seriously, the characters are messed up. R.L. Stine is great at scaring children but definitely not adults or young adults at least. I could feel through out the book that he was trying hard enough to pick the right words in order to make it more appropriate for adults but the only only thing that came close were the mere adulteries, sex scenes and the cursing.
The plot was very predictable. One read from the back of the book and you could imagine the whole main story line. There wasn’t much character development but that was forgivable. What I did like about this book is the way it’s written in third person, that made it more bearable. At least you know what’s happening! But overall had to force myself to read the whole thing. When I was almost at the finish line, I wanted to give up because everyone was being stupid in my opinion. I didn’t want to go on honestly but that major plot twist that I swear I never expected kept the flames alive. I didn’t expect that it would end that tragic because honestly while reading it I was thinking, ‘how could be the ending be promising if everything is so boring?’. And the ending was satisfactory for me but the book as a whole? Uh, no not really.
